Elizabeth Bayard French, FSA (née Wace; 19 January 1931 – 10 June 2021), also known as Lisa French, was a British archaeologist and academic, specialising in Mycenaean Greece, especially pottery and terracotta figurines and the site of Mycenae. She was the first woman to serve as director of the British School at Athens (BSA).

It is with great sadness that we note the passing, peacefully in Cambridge after a short illness, of Lisa French, first female Director of the BSA (1989-1994) and leading figure in the archaeology of the prehistoric Aegean, especially the site of Mycenae.
25. Juli 2022 · Abstract. Lisa French (1931–2021) was the first woman to be appointed as Director of the British School at Athens, from 1989–1994. Most of her adult life and career were devoted to the site of Mycenae, where she excavated with her father, Professor Alan Wace, in the 1950s and after his death in 1957 with Lord William Taylour.
