For 1988’s Big Band Favorites Of Sammy Nestico, Nestico assembled an all-star West Coast band that included trumpeter Conte Candoli and trombonist Bill Watrous. He also arranged for drummer Louis Bellson and saxophonists Pete Christlieb, Bud Shank and trombonist Bill Watrous to play.
27. Jan. 2021 · Sammy Nestico, an omnipresence in big band arranging and composing, best known for a close association with the Count Basie Orchestra, died of natural causes on Jan. 17 at his home in Carlsbad, Calif. He was 96. His death was confirmed by his wife, Shirley Nestico.

17. Dez. 2006 · Sammy Nestico was one of the finest arrangers of big band music, along with other greats such as Nelson Riddle, Billy May, and Quincy Jones, to name a few. Mr. Nestico did a fair mount of arranging for Count Basie, which says much about his talent and creativity.
