Tokyo Blade ist eine englische New-Wave-of-British-Heavy-Metal-Band aus Salisbury, die im Jahr 1980 unter dem Namen Killer gegründet wurde. Die Gruppe nannte sich kurzzeitig auch Genghis Khan.
18. Sept. 2022 · When Genghis Khan changed their name to Tokyo Blade, they had a few copies of the Double Dealin' twin pack lying around, so, they re-packaged them as two separate singles, and stuck labels on the discs. This single is originally disc one of the twin pack.
Along with the first albums by Iron Maiden and Angel Witch “Tokyo Blade” is still regarded as one the best debut records of the entire New Wave Of British Heavy Metal period. High Roller Records is proud to re-issue this long-deleted classic once again on glorious vinyl.
One of the early NWOBHM hopefuls. Musically, Tokyo Blade offer up some melodic, punky, galloping NWOBHM that is very reminiscent of the first Def Leppard or even at times, like early American metal band Riot. The music is melodic, yet still raw heavy metal, and contains a boatload of hooks.
Nicht nur Songs wie das getragene "Forged In Hell’s Fire", das fast siebenminütige "Killing Rays" und erst recht "Condemned To Fire" tragen auf jeden Fall deutliche Spuren der NWOBHM in sich und dürften auch von den Altfans der Band sehr wohlwollend aufgenommen werden.
