The Institute of History offers the opportunity to conduct independent research within the framework of university doctoral training. The doctorate can be obtained either within the sturucture of a doctoral programme (e.g. WBKolleg or IFZG) or as a free doctorate.
Here we research and teach the study of history in all its thematic breadth and methodological diversity. Our research deals with the history of Europe from antiquity to the present, as well as with the history of regions outside of Europe.
Doctoral programs are organized on an interuniversity basis and are particularly concerned with promoting academic exchanges involving doctoral students.
