  4. 10. Aug. 2020 · The education of boys in Naas was now firmly in the hands of the Christian Brothers, led by their Superior, Br Alphonsus Nolan. The 1870s saw the establishment and consolidation of the moat school. The number on the roll rose from 188 in 1871 to 215 in 1873.

Meánscoil Iognáid Rís is an all-boys Catholic voluntary secondary school under the trusteeship of the Edmund Rice Schools Trust, the body which holds in trust all the Christian Brother schools in the Republic of Ireland. The school is named after the founder of the Christian Brothers, Edmund Rice.
