Ab 1927 war er Studiomusiker, u. a. bei Roger Wolfe Kahn und Sam Lanin, und spielte kaum noch Jazz, sondern gehörte den Tanzbands von Cass Hagan, Don Voorhees und Ross Gorman an. Er war aber von 1938 bis 1943 in der Band von Paul Whiteman und 1943 in der von Benny Goodman.

27. Apr. 2019 · The Jazz Oracle CD Roger Wolfe Kahn 1925-1932 has 25 of the finest jazz-oriented recordings by Kahn’s orchestra. Most famous is “She’s A Great Great Girl” from March 14, 1928. Miff Mole, the band’s regular trombonist, could not make it and Jack Teagarden (who was not yet well known) was called.
