Luis Taruc was one of the twentieth century’s most prominent peasant revolutionaries. His death in May 2005 at the age of 91 is cause for reflection upon the factors that contributed to his becoming one of the most tragic figures in recent Philippine history, despite his ongoing popularity among the peasants of Luzon.
