Richard Tauber (16 May 1891 – 8 January 1948) was an Austrian lyric tenor and film actor. He sang the tenor role in number of operas, including Don Giovanni by Mozart and Da Ponte.

Tauber was studying voice at Freiberg, Ger., at the time of his highly successful operatic debut, as Tamino in Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s The Magic Flute (Die Zauberflöte) at the Chemnitz.
