Haberdashers' Girls' School is a private day school in Elstree, Hertfordshire. It is often referred to as "Habs" (or "Habs Girls" to distinguish it from the neighbouring Haberdashers' Boys' School). The school was founded in 1875 by the Worshipful Company of Haberdashers, one of the Great Twelve Livery Companies of the City of London.
If you think Habs might be the school for your child and you would like to make an application, please look at our Admissions Policy and Procedure, before completing our Registration Form (4+, 7+, 11+) or our Sixth Form Registration Form.
1. Sept. 2008 · Admissions at Habs. Applications for September 2025 are now open. Please refer to the table below to check which point of entry your child is eligible for. (This is dependent on your child’s birth date.)
History and Tradition. Haberdashers’ Girls’ School was founded in 1875 alongside the Boys’ School. A 21-acre site was purchased in Hoxton, where the almshouse and school were built and the remaining money was incorporated into a charitable foundation managed by the Livery Company.
One of the best things about the Sixth Form is the opportunity to join (or start new) societies, and to acquire new skills and contacts, for example, Model United Nations, European Youth Parliament, Senior Choir, Science Society, etc.
