After a successful career singing backup for such artists as Roy Hamilton , Dionne Warwick , Elvis Presley , Aretha Franklin , and Chaka Khan , Houston embarked on a solo career, winning two Grammy Awards for her work.
Dionne began singing during her childhood years in East Orange, New Jersey initially in church and occasionally a soloist and fill-in voice for the renowned Drinkard Singers, which consisted of her mother Lee and her aunts and uncles.
