Bobby Hicks (born July 21, 1933) is a Grammy Award -winning American bluegrass fiddler and musician with more than fifty years of experience. He was inducted into the International Bluegrass Music Hall of Fame in 2017. Career. Hicks was born in Newton, North Carolina and learned to play the fiddle before he was 9 years old.

Beginning in 2015, Bobby’s latest musical endeavor finds him partnered with Asheville, North Carolina, musician Mark Kuykendall. The duo shares co-billing of a group they call, appropriately enough, Asheville. Two recent album releases showcase a supreme fiddler, still at the top of his game as he enters his seventh decade of performing.
Bobby Hicks. Bobby was born in Newton, North Carolina in 1933 and started playing fiddle when he was nine years old. He is self taught and was hired by Bluegrass legend Bill Monroe in 1954 to play bass, but switched to fiddle after fiddler Gordon Terry was drafted into the military.
