The recordings were made from a series of seven performances that Redding played over three successive nights (April 8–10, 1966) at the Whisky a Go Go on Sunset Strip in Los Angeles. He was backed by his ten-piece touring band, the Otis Redding Revue.

1. Sept. 2020 · October 1, 2020. by Harvey Kubernik. In October of 1968 I held a copy of the Otis Redding Live at the Whisky A Go Go LP the first day it was available at Wallichs Music City in Hollywood. It was culled from Redding’s 1966 engagement at the landmark venue.
