St Swithun's School is set on an extensive and attractive campus on the eastern fringes of Winchester, Hampshire. The 45 acre site offers inspiring views over the countryside of the Hampshire Downs but is only 50 minutes away from London by train and is easily accessible by car.
St Swithun’s is one of the UK’s leading all girls’ day and boarding schools, whose results consistently earn the school awards for its position in the annual league tables. It is located on a large campus on the outskirts of Winchester and has strong links with the boys’ school, Winchester College.
The history of St Swithun’s School is a story of Winchester’s community spirit, public support and the 19th-century enthusiasm to improve girls’ education. In 1883 a campaign was organised by Anna Bramston, daughter of the then Dean of Winchester, with the purpose of establishing a school to provide a “sound and thorough” education ...
