The Dramatics, founded by Ron Banks (May 10, 1951 – March 4, 2010), Larry Demps, Rod Davis, Elbert Wilkins and Larry Reed, originally formed in 1964. They were originally known as the Sensations, but changed their billing to the Dramatics in 1965.
In the meantime, William Howard and Elbert Wilkins formed their own version of the Dramatics. They released the song 'No Rebate on Love', and called the group 'Ron Banks and The Dramatics'.
2. Aug. 2021 · A year after founding, the other members joining were baritone Elbert Wilkins, born May 1, 1947; bass/baritone Larry Demps, born February 23, 1949, tenor Lenny Mayes, born April 5, 1952, and tenor William Franklin Howard, born on July 13, 1950. They were all born in Detroit.
9. Jan. 2018 · The Dramatics formed in 1964 Detroit, where they were initially billed as The Dynamics due to a typographical error. The original lineup featured singers Larry Demps, Rod Davis, Elbert Wilkins, Larry Reed, and then-13-year-old Ron Banks.
It was in Detroit, Michigan where the vocal group Dramatics was formed. Before assuming that name, the group once performed under the name of the Dynamics. They consisted of Rob Davis, Ron Banks, Larry Reed, Robert Ellington, Larry “Squirrel” Demps and Elbert Wilkins.
3. Sept. 2021 · Within a few years, the Detroit group (also featuring Larry Demps, Elbert Wilkins, Roderick Davis, and Larry Reed) had released a handful of singles—including a Top 50 R&B hit—and were building a steady regional following.
Soul vocal group. Originally formed in 1964 in Detroit, Michigan. One of their first releases was Bingo! on the Wingate label, a division of Golden World owned by Eddie Wingate, but due to a misprint on the first pressing, they were referred to as 'The Dynamics'.
