The Well Below the Valley is the second album by the Irish folk group Planxty. It was recorded at Escape Studios in Kent, England, from 18 June 1973 until the end of the month, and was released later that year.
The last track revealed the impact of Balkan folk music on mandolinist Andy Irvine. The traditional song " The Blacksmith " concludes with Irvine playing "Blacksmithereens", a tune reflecting the influences he gathered during his travels in Eastern Europe .
Their first two albums, Planxty and The Well Below the Valley were both released in 1973. Andy Irvine. Although the sales were not particularly high they added to Planxty’s growing reputation as one of the major new forces in traditional Irish music.
Their second album, The Well Below The Valley was recorded at Escape Studios in Kent, England, from 18 June 1973 until the end of the month, and released the same year.: 169–181 It features three songs by Irvine: "Pat Reilly",: 80–81 : 16–17 "As I Roved Out",: 6–7 and "Time Will Cure Me".
Sie enthielt vor allem neuartig arrangierte traditionelle Lieder und Tänze sowie Eigenkompositionen. PLANXTY. After laying the foundation with Sweeney's Men, Planxty was the next natural progression. Considered the great Irish-folk group of the 70's and early 80's, Planxty helped popularize Irish traditional music in Europe and America.
