Carmen Rhapsodyのテーマは、「激しい情熱」と「柔軟で自由で実験的な精神」という、現代でも欠かせない芸術の概念に焦点を当てています。 カルメンは、フランスの作曲家ジョルジュ・ビゼーがメリメの小説をもとに作曲したオペラですが私はカルメンの知られざるもう一つの側面に焦点を当て、その内なる魅力、すなわち、強く逞しい女性、他言語も操れる賢い女性、何事にも縛られず常に自由な精神を放つ女性に迫る音楽作品を作りたいと考えています。 そんな「カルメン狂詩曲」の世界を、私たちは新たな試みで表現したいと思います。 ピアノ、チェロ、ソプラノサックスによる自由な即興演奏と、塩田千春による舞台美術で構成されています。
