3. Aug. 2020 · The bassist in both of those bands was a young guy, Alfie Agius. From what I have read he largely played a fretless bass. Not much is mentioned on here about his bass playing, but I'd like to think he played a fretless Fender Precision bass or a fretless Ibanez bass, sort of like the one that Sting played.

In order to keep the band on the road as a touring concern, two London musicians were hired – keyboard player Jeff Hammer and bass player Alfie Agius (the latter freeing Cope to concentrate on vocals and rhythm guitar). Despite the internal turmoil, by 1981 The Teardrop Explodes were at the height of their popularity.
