16. Feb. 2017 · Musically and lyrically, "A 1000 Times"'s theme echoes the story of its creators, who first met in 2008 when Batmanglij's band Vampire Weekend asked to open for the Walkmen.
The arrangement – courtesy of ex-Vampire Weekend multi-instrumentalist Rostam Batmanglij – provides a semi-baroque complement, giving the song a stately feel, and Leithauser sounds as weary as ever, but wholly comfortable leaning into his “shaggy crooner” persona.
