Karriere. 1960 begann er als Gitarrist bei den Lokalbands Jaguars und Opus To Spring. 1962 und 1963 spielte er bei den Hellions, 1964 und 1965 folgten die Revolutions. 1966 wurde er dann Roadie für die Spencer Davis Group. Dabei lernte er Chris Blackwell von Island Records kennen, durch den er 1967 einen Platz bei Traffic bekam.
He played on their early studio sessions, including the Phil Spector production of "Tell the Truth", which was withdrawn from sale and eventually released on Eric Clapton's 1988 box set Crossroads. He also played at their first gig at the London Lyceum but left the group soon after that.
Dave Mason left Traffic in 1969 to pursue a solo career in the U.S. Dave has penned over 100 songs, has 3 gold albums: Alone Together, Dave Mason, Mariposa De Oro, and platinum album Let It Flow, which contained the top-ten single “We Just Disagree”.
