Daniel Gaston Ash (born 31 July 1957) is an English musician, songwriter and singer. He became prominent in the late 1970s as the guitarist for the iconic goth rock band Bauhaus , which spawned two related bands led by Ash: Tones on Tail and Love and Rockets .
Daniel Ash created a guitar legacy all his own. His mood-shifting, atmospheric playing style, as heard in his early Telecaster-driven work with Bauhaus, served as an obvious influence on subsequent bands including Jane’s Addiction, The Smashing Pumpkins, and Soundgarden.
Whilst John McGeoch is celebrated as the finest post-punk guitarist, Daniel Ash of Bauhaus also makes a strong claim, delivering slick and pioneering work.
