Geoffrey Nathaniel Joseph Pyke (9 November 1893 – 21 February 1948) was an English journalist, educationalist, and inventor. Pyke came to public attention when he escaped from internment in Germany during World War I .

Geoffrey Pyke lived most of his life as if it was an experiment. The idea he wanted to test was simple enough: that he could solve any problem, and what’s more, so could anyone else. There followed one of the most extraordinary lives of the 20th century.
30. Sept. 2015 · Pyke was first a journalist, having landed a job as a foreign correspondent at the age of 20 after sneaking into wartime Germany under a false passport in 1914. But he became better known in his later capacity as an inventor – particularly for his unorthodox weapons of war.
Geoffrey Pyke named his fantasy Project Habakkuk, a biblical reference to its ambitious goal: “… be utterly amazed, for I am going to do something in your days that you would not believe, even if you were told” (Habakkuk 1:5, NIV).
