Former bass player Brian Bethell died from heart failure in April 2024, at the age of 74. Recent work Nine Below Zero in 2017. 2012 saw the return of Brian Bethell who played on Third Degree. The new lineup started performing in January with shows in Germany, Switzerland and Austria, as the band enter their 35th year.

While tabloid coverage of these creatures has claimed that tales of black-eyed children have existed since the 1980s, [5] most sources indicate that the legend originated from 1996 postings written by Texas reporter Brian Bethel on a "ghost-related mailing list," relating two alleged encounters with "black-eyed kids."
15. Mai 2024 · My friend Brian Bethell, who has died of heart failure aged 74, was a musician and journalist in the UK and Australia. He worked with the Blow Monkeys, Nine Below Zero, Paul Weller, the 69ers and the Richard Clapton Band, and toured with musicians ranging from Chuck Berry to the Who.
The band play tours dates supporting THE WHO (after KENNY JONES saw them in the studio) & THE KINKS. In June 1981 the band part company with bassist Pete Clark, who is replaced by BRIAN BETHELL. Towards the end of the year Nine Below Zero record TV appearances for THE OLD GREY WHISTLE TEST and THE SOUTH BANK SHOW.
In 2012, Greaves reformed The Truth and played at London's Borderline on 26 October 2012. [4] The line-up is the original 1983 line-up of Dennis Greaves, Mick Lister, Chris Skornia and Brian Bethell, with Steve Phypers.
