Cliff Durant. Russell Clifford Durant (November 26, 1890 – October 31, 1937) [1] [2] was an American playboy and racing driver . Early life. Durant was born in Flint, Michigan, the son of William C. Durant and Clara Miller Pitt. [1] . His older sister, Margery Durant, was three years his senior.

Cliff Durant, son of General Motors founder Billy Durant, raced from 1912 to 1928. He competed six times in the Indianapolis 500, earning his best finish with seventh place in 1923. Eddie Rickenbacker raced for ten years before becoming a flying ace in World War I.
