Santa Maria in Palmis (Italian: Chiesa di Santa Maria delle Piante; Latin: Sanctae Mariae in Palmis), also known as Chiesa del Domine Quo Vadis, is a small church southeast of Rome.

(Photo by LPLT) Along the Via Appia Antica, famous for its Christian catacombs, is the legendary site where the soon-to-be-Saint Peter, scurrying away from the Christian persecutions in Rome, met a vision of Christ blocking the road.
8. Aug. 2020 · Domine Quo Vadis. The small church of Domine Quo Vadis, which is situated on the Via Appia, at the junction with Via Ardeatina, marks the spot where, according to the apocryphal Acts of Peter, Christ met Peter as the latter was fleeing Rome. Its official name is Santa Maria delle Piante (St Mary of the Soles of the Feet).
The Church of Domine Quo Vadis stands at the crossroads between the Appian Way and the Via Ardeatina, about 800 meters from Porta San Sebastiano and, according to tradition, was built in the place where Jesus appeared to the apostle Peter who was leaving Rome for escape martyrdom.
Quo Vadis is an Italian film directed by Enrico Guazzoni for Cines in 1913, based on the 1896 novel of the same name written by Henryk Sienkiewicz.
