  4. Welcome to the New College online Exhibition! We’ve been teaching Divinity at the University of Edinburgh since its foundation in 1583. But our beautiful and iconic New College building has just reached its 175th anniversary and we think that’s something to celebrate.

  5. 19. März 2024 · In 2021, the School celebrated the 175th anniversary of the day when Dr Thomas Chalmers laid the foundation stone of New College on the Mound: 3 June 1846. Events and activities taking place in the School of Divinity, University of Edinburgh in 2021, the 175th anniversary year of New College.

Offering incredible views over New Town towards the Firth of Forth, New College originated as the Free Church of Scotland and merged with the School of Divinity in the University in 1929 to become a part of our campus. It offers numerous indoor spaces, including Rainy Hall, Martin Hall and the New College Library.

  7. Graduate school space expands. The refurbishment of the Semples Close Wing [1997] increased the desk space available for Graduate Students considerably.
