Adapted from the novel of the same name by Ellery Queen, which was published in this year, the story concerns detective Ellery Queen (Donald Cook) who spots homicide and love while holidaying with a judge (Berton Churchill).
It all begins when Ellery and his friend Judge Macklin (Berton Churchill), vacationing at a California seaside resort, enter a lavish beach house and find pretty Stella Godfrey (Helen Twelvetrees) tied to a chair.
