Yu So Chow (Chinese: 于素秋; pinyin: Yú Sù Qiū; Cantonese Yale: yū sou chāu; 9 July 1930 – 12 May 2017) was a Chinese actress. She was born in Beijing. She was the daughter of late Master Yu Jim Yuen who ran the China Drama Academy, a Peking Opera School in Hong Kong, and teacher of many well-known actors.

Ms Yu So Chow. 1930-2017. Actress and Cantonese opera artist Yu So Chow was born Yu Siu Yuen to a family of actors. Her father was the famous Peking opera virtuoso Yu Zhanyuan. She began her training in female warrior roles aged eight and made her debut a year later, performing northern-style martial arts.

Her father, Yu Zhanyuan, was a famous Peking opera wusheng (male lead in a martial role) himself, as well as the master of the renowned "Seven Little Fortunes" which includes Sammo Hung, Jackie Chan and Yuen Biao.
Honoured on the Avenue of Stars, Hong Kong in 2004. Lives now in San Francisco with her five children. Yu So Chow comes from a family of actors. Her father was the famous Peking Opera actor Yu Jim Yuen, and she apprenticed for female warrior roles in Peking Operas at the age of eight.
