Jan. 2024 · Mean Streets' 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray is hardly going to stand out on the aural front - it's a shot-on-the-streets early Scorsese effort from 50 years ago, so nobody was expecting, or looking for, some kind of Atmos revisionism. But, that said, the English lossless LPCM 1.0 mono track is still surprisingly impressive, despite its innate restrictions.

The Sony XR A80J has a peak brightness of 640 nits at 1% window, 670 nits at 2% and 640 nits at 5% with a drop-down to 591 nits on the industry-standard 10% window size. With a 100% window size the brightness is 135 nits.

There is a brief title card at the front of the film acknowledging the studios involved in the remaster and a short description of the work that was done (35mm rescan / print clean-up etc).
