311 did a reggaefied version of Self Esteem. The Offspring did a punk version of Down. Regarding 311’s cover of “Self Esteem” Nick Hexum says…. Self Esteem is my favorite Offspring song. It’s a great melody and the lyrics really tell a story. Our first version was more reggae, but we realized it needed to rock like the original, so we revved it up.
