Robert „Bobby“ Hutcherson war ein US-amerikanischer Vibraphonist des Modern Jazz, der seit den 1970er Jahren auch auf der Marimba sowie vereinzelt auf dem Xylophon hervorgetreten ist. Er gilt als ein Wegbereiter für das moderne Vibraphonspiel im Jazz.
Firebirds is a 1968 album by two American jazz musicians, Prince Lasha (alto saxophone, flute, alto clarinet) and Sonny Simmons (alto saxophone, English horn). Other participating musicians in this album were bassist Buster Williams, drummer Charles Moffett and vibraphonist Bobby Hutcherson.

Robert Hutcherson (January 27, 1941 – August 15, 2016) was an American jazz vibraphone and marimba player. "Little B's Poem", from the 1966 Blue Note album Components, is one of his best-known compositions. Simmons und er leiteten gemeinsam die Band „Firebirds“, die auch mit Bobby Hutcherson und Charles Moffett senior auf Platte dokumentiert ist. Ab 1965 lebte Lasha für zwei Jahre in Europa, wo er auch mit Steve Lacy, Paul Bley, Attila Zoller, Gary Peacock und Barry Altschul spielte.
In den nächsten Jahren wirkte er an Aufnahmen von Elvin Jones und Jimmy Garrison sowie Eric Dolphy (Musical Prophet: The Expanded 1963 New York Studio Sessions) mit. 1962 gründete er gemeinsam mit Prince Lasha eine Band, die mit Bobby Hutcherson, Gary Peacock und Charles Moffett senior als „Firebirds“ bekannt wurde.
