Drummer Man, mit vollständigem Titel Gene Krupa Big Band: Drummer Man featuring Anita O’Day & Roy Eldridge ist ein Jazz-Album des Schlagzeugers Gene Krupa und dessen Big Band, aufgenommen im Frühjahr 1956 und veröffentlicht 1956 auf Verve Records.
Es entstanden weitere Aufnahmen auf dem Label Clef von Granz, u. a. mit Coleman Hawkins. 1956 traf er im Verve-Studio zu einer Reunion mit Gene Krupa und Anita O’Day zusammen (Drummer Man); im November 1956 begleitete er Billie Holiday bei ihrem letzten Konzert in der New Yorker Carnegie Hall.
INTRODUCTION. Every so often questions arise concerning the soundtrack of the SOUNDIE Sugar Hill Masquerade (After You’ve Gone). This is quite surprising since, production documents aside, the featured soloist is without question Roy Eldridge, performing the “standard band arrangement” with the Gene Krupa orchestra.
