Schuchart, who was born in Dusseldorf, arrived in the fall of 1869. Bishop Rosecrans, first bishop of Columbus, came here on July 4, 1870, to dedicate our new church building. The church was 60 feet by 124 feet, capable of seating 900 and cost $24,000 ($402,233.14 in 2009 dollars).
