Douglas Wayne Sahm war ein US-amerikanischer Country-, Blues- und Rockmusiker. Er gilt als wichtigste Figur des sogenannten Tex-Mex-Stils und war vor allem bekannt als Leader des Sir Douglas Quintet und später der Texas Tornados.

Danko handled lead vocals, bass, and guitar. Other guests included Eric Clapton (guitar on "New Mexicoe"), Ronnie Wood (guitar on "What a Town"), Beach Boy and later Band member Blondie Chaplin (guitar and bass on various tracks) and Doug Sahm (guitar on various tracks).

With a range of great originals and excellent covers, Sahm whelps out the blues but provides a superb array of musical abilities that provides a great exhibition of his talents. Arguably, his best album.
Rick Danko was recorded at the Shangri-La studios in California for Clive Davis' new Arista label. Together with a crew of musicians ranging from Rick's brother Terry to Doug Sahm and the other members of the Band, he cut a collection of songs with lyrics by Bobby Charles and Emmet Grogan.
