  1. Back to the Tracks is a hard bop album by tenor saxophonist Tina Brooks recorded in 1960 and released posthumously. The album was originally intended as BLP 4052, but, for some reason, it was shelved at the time.

  4. 28. Apr. 2023 · Back to the Tracks was recorded in September and October 1960 but not released until 1998, when producer Michael Cuscuna found the tapes in the Blue Note archives and issued them first on vinyl in a 1985 Mosaic box and then at Blue Note on CD in 1998.

  5. Richard Allen "Blue" Mitchell (March 13, 1930 – May 21, 1979) was an American trumpeter and composer who worked in jazz, rhythm and blues, soul, rock and funk. He recorded albums as leader and sideman for Riverside, Mainstream Records, and Blue Note.

  6. With song after song of regrets and sorrow, this may be the ultimate breakup album. Its whispery minimalism is also Mitchells greatest musical achievement.

Heute ist kaum nachvollziehbar, wie es dazu kommen konnte, denn Brooks spielt nicht nur fantastisch, sondern wird auf "Back To The Tracks" auch noch begleitet von Größen wie Jackie McLean, Blue Mitchell, Kenny Drew, Art Taylor und Paul Chambers. Umso erfreulicher, dass sich Alan Yoshida und Joe Harley dem Remastering der Aufnahme gewidmet haben.
