Loleatta Holloway ( / lɒlˈiːtə /, lo-LEE-tə; November 5, 1946 – March 21, 2011) was an American singer known for disco songs such as "Hit and Run" and "Love Sensation". In December 2016, Billboard named her the 95th-most successful dance artist of all time. [1] .
Loleatta Holloway begann bereits als Kind in einem Gospelchor zu singen. In den 1960er Jahren nahm sie erste Platten auf. In den frühen 1970er Jahren spielte sie schließlich im Musical Don’t Bother Me, I Can’t Cope. In jenen Tagen lernte sie auch ihren späteren Ehemann und Manager Floyd Smith (1917–1982) kennen.
