Moonlighting is the debut album by the contemporary jazz ensemble the Rippingtons. It was released in 1986 on Passport Jazz and GRP labels, and reached number 5 on Billboard 's Jazz chart. This is also the first appearance of the Jazz Cat on the album cover by artist Bill Mayer.

14. Nov. 2012 · In the early 1980s, a few years before Russ Freeman gathered a bunch of his L.A. musician friends together to create the groundbreaking Rippingtons' debut Moonlighting, the multi-talented guitarist and composer spent time on TV sound stages listening to orchestras play.
"Moonlighting" was guitarist Russ Freeman and the Rippingtons first CD release, and interestingly, was thought to just be a one-time, one-album project for the group of musicians, which included pianist David Benoit, drummer Tony Morales, sax man Brandon Fields, EWI guru Dave Koz, among others.
