In 2000, singer Eban Brown (formerly of The Delfonics, The Manhattans, and Ray, Goodman and Brown) replaced Thompkins as lead singer. That same year, tenor singer Van Fields, who had previously sung with the A Cappella group "A Perfect Blend", joined, enabling The Stylistics to grow from a trio back to a quartet.
In 1991, Brown's nephew, Harold "Eban" Brown, former vocalist for the Delfonics, became the lead vocalist for Ray, Goodman & Brown. He stayed for two and a half years before joining the Manhattans and became lead vocalist for the Stylistics in 2000.
(Just a note: Michael Muse replaces Harold Eban Brown who sang lead for The Stylistics for almost 18 years. As for Russell Thompkins, Jr., he vacated his position as The Stylistics' lead singer in 2000 and has since formed a group called The New Stylistics, which is a separate entity from the original group.)
