The Boys of the Lough is a Scottish-Irish Celtic music band active since the 1970s. Early years. Their first album, called Boys of the Lough (1972) consisted of Aly Bain ( fiddle ), [1] Cathal McConnell ( flute ), Dick Gaughan (vocals and guitar) and Robin Morton ( bodhran and vocals). [2]
On Midwinter Night’s Dream, Boys of the Lough include Aly Bain (fiddle), Cathal McConnell (flute, whistles, song), Dave Richardson (concertina, mandolin, cittern, accordion), and Christy O’Leary (uilleann pipes, whistles, song).
“A celebration in music and song of some of the vital Celtic traditions of midwinter from the Atlantic lands of Northern Europe”. I think Midwinter Night’s Dream is the US title for the CD originally released - in the UK at least – as The Day Dawn (Lough Records – Lough 006CD) (1994).
