Bristol Grammar School (BGS) is a 4–18 mixed, private day school in Bristol, England. It was founded in 1532 by Royal Charter for the teaching of 'good manners and literature', endowed by wealthy Bristol merchants Robert and Nicholas Thorne who made their money through the work and trade of enslaved Africans. Bristol Grammar School is a very special place. From the early years of Reception, right through to the Sixth Form, our pupils are encouraged to get involved and to make the most of the many opportunities available to them, inside the classroom and out.
At Bristol Grammar School we share that ambition; our aim for your child is for them to leave BGS happy, confident and secure, equipped not just with qualifications but with the skills they need to make their way in the world.
