In September 2011, director Stephen Kessler's documentary Paul Williams Still Alive premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival. Williams struggled with alcohol and substance abuse during the 1970s and 1980s.
PAUL WILLIAMS: STILL ALIVE is the charmingly self-narrated story of the journey that followed, from Ontario to the Philippine Islands. It’s a cheeky, warts-and-all account of fame and misfortune, abuse and recovery, and the funny and often deeply fraught relationship between Kessler and his reluctant subject. Watch trailer.
13. Mai 2024 · In 2011 Williams was the subject of a documentary, Paul Williams Still Alive, for which he wrote a new song, “Still Alive.” He continued to contribute to soundtracks: with Gustavo Santaolalla, he wrote songs for the animated film The Book of Life (2014), including “The Apology Song.”
