Saxon is mainly known as leader and singer of garage rock band The Seeds. He began his career as a doo-wop influenced singer under the name Little Ritchie Marsh in the early 1960s.
The band's classic line-up featured frontman Sky Saxon, guitarist Jan Savage (born Buck Jan Reeder), [7] keyboardist Daryl Hooper and drummer Rick Andridge. In 1968, the band changed their name to Sky Saxon and the Seeds, with Savage and Andridge departing the band. They went on to release a handful of additional singles. [8]

Sky Saxon's second release on Voxx Records — the first being half of a 1986 EP with SS-20 — was a live album, Private Party — Live At The Cavern Club, credited to Sky Sunlight Saxon and Purple Electricity. The performances on the album are from a show at Hollywood's Cavern Club on March 7, 1986.
