After having an argument with her mother, Ari was approached by Palmolive and Kate Korris with the offer to form a band. The next day they had their first rehearsal. The group supported the Clash on their 1977 White Riot tour along with Buzzcocks, the Jam, the Prefects and Subway Sect.
Guitar-wielding expatriate American Kate Korus (real name Katherine Corris) was a founding member of The Slits, who at the time had more enthusiasm for just being a group than for actually playing anything approaching music, so she left early on, “determined never, ever, to be with a group who didn’t know what they were doing”.
Mo-dettes were an English all-female post-punk band, formed in 1979 by guitarist Kate Korris, an original member of the Slits and brief member of the Raincoats, and bassist Jane Crockford, former member of Bank of Dresden.
The Slits. This UK feminist punk outfit formed in 1976 with a line-up featuring Ari-Up (b. Ariane Forster; vocals), Kate Corris (b. Katherine Corris, New York, USA; guitar), Palmolive (b. Paloma Romero; drums, later of The Raincoats) and Suzi Webb aka "Gutsy" (bass).
8. März 2024 · Up was unafraid to be totally herself – she was often loud, vulgar, bratty and reckless – which was precisely what the band needed. The lineup initially featured Up, Palmolive, Suzy Gutsy and Kate Korus, before the latter two were soon replaced by Tessa Pollitt and Albertine, respectively.

15. Apr. 2018 · Mo-dettes - Mo-dettes were an English New Wave band that released multiple singles and one album, The Story So Far, on Deram in 1980. Guitarist Kate Korus hailed from an early lineup of The Slits. Drummer June Kingston went on to play behind Fun Boy Three, Everything but the Girl, and sing backup for Big Country, Microdisney, and The Woodentops.
