Homerton College is a constituent college of the University of Cambridge. Its first premises were acquired in Homerton , London in 1768, by an informal gathering of Protestant dissenters with origins in the seventeenth century.
Das Homerton College ist ein College der Universität Cambridge. Mit 1386 Studierenden (Stand Dez. 2020), davon 738 Frauen, ist es zahlenmäßig das größte der 31 Colleges. Bekannt ist es vor allem für seine Lehramts-Tradition; es nahm bis zum Jahr 2001 auch nur Studenten mit Lehramtsfächern auf.
Founded as a non-conformist academy, the College had strong ties to public service as well as to higher education, and over the centuries produced alumni of considerable influence, including prominent dissenting thinkers, missionary explorers, educationalists and politicians.
Homerton College is one of the largest, youngest and most diverse Colleges at the University of Cambridge. It offers accommodation, facilities, support and co-curricular opportunities for all undergraduate and most postgraduate courses.
Homerton is both the largest and the newest College in the University. With a 250-year history, for much of which we were an acclaimed teacher training college, we received our Royal Charter in 2010 and now offer every subject at both undergraduate and postgraduate level.
