RuthenSmear is the first solo album by guitarist Pat Smear. The song "Golden Boys" was originally written by Darby Crash, but never recorded by him before his death.
Pat Smear (* 5. August 1959 in Los Angeles ; eigentlich Georg Ruthenberg ) ist ein US-amerikanischer Musiker. Er war Mitbegründer der kalifornischen Punk -Legende Germs , die sich nach dem Tod ihres Frontmanns Darby Crash im Jahre 1980 auflösten.
5. Aug. 2020 · Pat Smear wird am 5. August 1959 im kalifornischen Los Angeles als Georg Albert Ruthenberg geboren. Er wird früh von seinen Eltern zu Klavierstunden gezwungen, das Gitarrespielen bringt er sich selber bei. Als Teenager lernt er an der Highschool Jan Paul Beahm kennen, mit dem er Germs gründet.
29. Aug. 2023 · Pat Smear has had such a long and storied career in rock 'n' roll that one would assume he came into this world with a guitar in one hand and a pick in the other. However, while he picked up music at a young age, the guitar was, surprisingly, not his first instrument.
Smear released his first solo album, Ruthensmear, on SST Records in 1987; he recorded the follow-up, So You Fell in Love With a Musician, in 1992. A year later, Smear was asked by the Red Hot Chili Peppers to replace guitarist John Frusciante; however, he turned them down.
