1987 begleitete sie Paul Simon weltweit auf seiner Graceland-Tour und sang mit ihm im Duo Under African Skies (dokumentiert in Simbabwe). 1988 trat sie zusammen mit Hugh Masekela beim Nelson Mandela 70th Birthday Tribute Concert in London auf.
Musiker wie Ladysmith Black Mambazo oder die Altmeisterin Miriam Makeba konnten ihr Anliegen einer großen Öffentlichkeit bekannt machen. Dieses Konzert fand im simbabwischen Harare statt, also direkt vor dem Apartheidstaat und dürfte auch viele Besucher von dort angezogen haben.
