Former bandmates Garrett Ecstasy, who left the band in 2009, and Jayy Von Monroe, who left in 2016, have described Vanity as a sexual predator.
Der Name „Blood on the Dance Floor“ war ein spontaner Einfall von Vanity. Die Band debütierte mit dem Album Let’s Start a Riot. Für das zweite Album It’s Hard to Be a Diamond in a Rhinestone World nahm Garrett Ecstasy als „inoffizieller Hintergrundsänger/-shouter“ den Platz neben Dahvie Vanity ein.

Jedes der Lieder wurde von Dahvie Vanity geschrieben, wobei er immer vom jeweiligen Gesangspartner der Originalversion (entweder Jayy von Monroe, der auch die Titel auf Blood Unplugged einsang, oder sein Vorgänger Garrett Ecstasy) unterstützt wurde.
