    Fundamental Studies courses ensure that you have the basic skills in written and oral communication, in mathematical analysis and in critical thinking that are important to your success across the curriculum and in your career.

    Distributive Studies courses expose you to a variety of disciplines even as you concentrate in your chosen field. They offer insights into the methods of different disciplines, the kinds of questions disciplines asks, and their standards for judging answers.

    I-Series courses speak to important issues that spark the imagination, demand intellect, and inspire innovation. They challenge you to wrestle with big question, and examine the ways that different disciplines address them.

    Diversity courses investigate the complexities of human difference and commonality, emphasizing the promises and problems of plural societies and the challenges that must be addressed to achieve just, equitable, and productive societies.   2. Learn the art of policy and governance, and gain the analytical skills and practical experience to launch a career solving pressing policy challenges. The MPP program is a two-year professional degree with core courses, electives, specializations, and faculty who are both scholars and practitioners.

  3. Website. http://www.spp.umd.edu/. The University of Maryland School of Public Policy is one of 14 schools at the University of Maryland, College Park. The school is located inside the Capital Beltway .

Choose from six programs, including dual degrees and executive options, and benefit from experiential learning and networking opportunities in Washington, DC.

  5. School of Public Policy. The school currently offers a Bachelor of Arts in Public Policy, as well as minors in Nonprofit Leadership and Social Innovation, Sustainability Studies, Science, Technology, Ethics and Policy (STEP) and Public Leadership. Courses may be found under PLCY.

  6. Programs. Public Policy (MAPO) Public Policy, Master of Public Policy (M.P.P.) Public Policy, Master of Public Policy (M.P.P.) Non-thesis only: 48 credits required. Most MPP students take 4 courses per semester and finish the program in two years. Students may instead take 1-4 courses each semester and complete the degree in two-five years.
