It was built between 1767 and 1785, by order of the 3rd Duke of Berwick and Liria, Don Jacobo Fitz-James Stuart and Columbus. We owe this monumental work mainly to the renowned architect Ventura Rodríguez (1717-1785), who replaced Louis Guilbert, thus completing a neoclassical building with a rectangular, elongated and compact interior.
