The Organic Semiconductors and Optical Nanostructures Group, headed by Professor John Lupton, is a condensed matter research group in the Physics Department at the University of Regensburg.
Lupton was tall, lanky and handsome, not unlike James Stewart or Henry Fonda, but he never achieved similar fame while accumulating over 260 credits in film and television productions. He was signed as a contract player at MGM in Hollywood and made his first film appearance in On the Town in 1949.
Research Interests. Our research involves the use of subensemble techniques – single-molecule spectroscopy, magnetic resonance, and ultrafast fluorescence – to investigate the role of nanoscale order and shape on charge and energy migration in pi-conjugated macromolecules, semiconductor nanocrystals, and metallic nanoparticles.
John Lupton (1928-1993) was a versatile actor who appeared in films, TV shows and stage plays. He was best known for his role as Tom Jeffords in Broken Arrow (1956) and as Tommy Horton in Days of Our Lives (1965).
