Christopher Robert Pronger ( / ˈprɒŋɡər / or / ˈprɒŋər /; born October 10, 1974) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey defenceman and 2015 inductee to the Hockey Hall of Fame. He won the Hart Memorial Trophy as the NHL's most valuable player for the 1999–2000 season.
One of the most complete defensemen in NHL history. Pronger was selected 2nd overall in 1993 after winning a Memorial Cup with the Peterborough Petes and a gold medal at the World Juniors. The 6'6 defender scored 30 points for the Whalers as a rookie in 1994 and won World Championship gold in 1997.
